Feedback
An excellent and timely refresher on all aspects of safe riding in practical situations.
An instructive and enjoyable day out.
Great course
Practical and targeted instruction and feedback.
It was an awesome day. So instructive. I got so much good advices for highway ridining, pillion, slow speed, hazard detection and avoidance. Thank you so much. I loved the detailed techincal discussion about Bike chassis and gemoetry. Trail, Wheelbase, Rake and the effect of tyre pressure on the Bike handling.
Great experience to further develop your riding skills. Experienced instructors give real world examples and on road experience that support and further enhance the content being delivered.
It would be quicker to list the motorcycle courses I haven’t done with Neil - as aside from the BS+H, my whole MC licence journey and all 3 Ride Forever courses have been with Empowered Journeys. Since 2018 I have experienced different levels of training with Neil. Every time it’s clear you’re dealing with someone that has a wealth of riding knowledge who is always eager to get the most out of every rider. I would recommend Neil to anyone and everyone. I always come away having learned something new. Book your rider training with Empowered Journeys!
Had a most enjoyable refresher day, with a variety of different roads to ride, and many a u turn to do.
I had an issue with the earphones , there were times I couldn’t hear above wind noise, which I think is a quite normal problem.
Or as my wife says I’ve got selective hearing.
Thanks Em.
The mix of theory and practical content was excellent with well demonstrated real world scenarios that could be encountered on a variety of roads and conditions.
Philip delivered the course clearly with frequent demonstrations and explanations when required.
Overall I think the course was excellent and had some valuable reminders even for experienced riders.
The hole day was great with great information thanks heaps
Have done a few of these gold courses in the past, this would be the best I have attended.
Great theory session with useful props to help explain the concepts. Good comms on the ride with useful pointers along the way. Good mentoring of some of the less experienced riders. A great day.
I had a great informative day especially with the in depth theory of gyroscopic factors. On road positioning was also very helpful.
Excellent day riding with Phil from Rightway Riding Academy- learnt some great new skills and got plenty of time to practice and embed these. I particularly valued the practice emergency stops, with the feedback that as I don’t have ABS braking - I’m doing okay! Helped me stop judging and comparing myself to others and focus on my own skillset. Overall a really fun day out on the bike withs heaps of good learning thrown in. Highly Recommend.
Byron did a great job catering to the groups level, making it fun yet challenging. Would recommend him to anyone serious about improving their riding.
Very well organised
Great day. Good coach. Good group. Highly recommended
Well constructed and delivered course. Phil had a great manner and did a great job adapting the plan for the day as we went along. I enjoyed listening to the others on the course and learned a few things which I found myself applying on the ride home. I would highly recommend Phil/Rightway and the gold course to anyone who wants to have a great day out and brush up on their skills.
Excellent course content, great refresh of knowledge. Well presented, overall an excellent and engaging day.
Advanced riders in the group and Philip was able tailor specific feedback and reinforce good skills with gentle suggestions for improvement - look forward to next one
A fun and informative experience. This is the second gold course I have taken.
10 out of 10! Great instructor and advice!
Niel provided a great explanation on all aspects relating to safety and riding ability, catering for different riders ability in each exercise. Thanks Niel for great day, the weather was great to. Cheers Mike.
Always very knowledgeable facilitators, with a good mix of theory and the practical application thereof
A very good day out. Thanks for the feedback and critique of my riding.
Since 2021 I have attended 1 Silver and 4 Gold courses with Rightway.
Every course has contributed hugely to my knowledge, safety and competence as a motorcyclist.
All of you go that extra mile to ensure the latest insights and basic skilsets are bedded in.
I will be back for more and encourage every rider I meet to book in with you.
Much appreciated.

Phil runs a course well grounded in real world application of valuable riding skills. He does this in a relatable way, building things up so you think about things and then get to experience them. I learned loads. If you have been riding for 30days or 30 years, there will be something for you in Phil’s Gold Course
Neil was very professional in all aspects of the theory and practical sides of the silver course training and upskilling day. Very beneficial for all bike riders to do these courses. Cheers Mike.
great instructor, wealth of knowledge and generally appears to love his job
Practical and usable training, with plenty of riding to put into practice
Thanks for an enjoyable day. See you again in 2 years time :)
I wish to thank Phillip for his positive constructive pointers re tackling loose surfaces and moss by tightening ones knees against the tank and relaxing handle grip tension. It was simply amazing how the bike responded through the bends when relaxed. I’ve covered in excess of a million kilometer’s ridding and am still capable of learning something new. You can teach an old dog a new trick. :)
Every motorcyclist should do these courses. For those that are already safe riders, it reinforces safe habits and discourages bad habits. For those that are not safe riders it illustrates to them why nobody wants to ride in a group with them!
A day of valuable learning from Instructor Phil and sharing with like-minded course participants. I enjoyed the confidence boost from real-world application of skills as our group completed a sizeable loop around the region. A top day, thank you Phil!
A very informative coarse. The pre-ride talk covered a lot of info on why things happen. Also how and why a motorcycle behaves differently under varying conditions. The “Controlled Braking training was also helpful, followed by a “no stress” ride, with audible info from Philip. Highly recommended, no matter how long you’ve been riding.
Good job, just the right step up from silver. Cheers.
A great course. I found the science and practical reasoning behind various motorcycle related theories very interesting.Including chassis geometry changes while braking and accelerating that also the affects your tyres.
The group talks were casually run affairs which encouraged a lot of comment and discussion.Practising some of these out on the road was encouraged and were good to experiment with.I found I need to work more on practicing using the vanishing point in corners as well.
5 stars for a well run course.
Mark Ellen.
Very well presented and comprehensive
Good practical information and reminder about position on the road and vanishing point in corners. Braking practice was insightful. Would have been good to have had more discussion and analysis of NZ’s deteriorating road surfaces and the safety implications. Tyre inflation and design info was useful. Would have been good to hear more about latest motorcycle safety gear innovation and effectiveness like inflatable vests and other innovations. Thanks for your good work.
Great tuition. Relevant, plenty of time to demonstrate our abilities and receive advice. God size group. Good comms between all of us. Good selection of roads to test new skills. Full day of learning practice and fun.
Great day, lots of great insights and techniques to keep improving my riding. Thank you Neil.
