Phil runs a course well grounded in real world application of valuable riding skills. He does this in a relatable way, building things up so you think about things and then get to experience them. I learned loads. If you have been riding for 30days or 30 years, there will be something for you in Phil’s Gold Course
Neil was very professional in all aspects of the theory and practical sides of the silver course training and upskilling day. Very beneficial for all bike riders to do these courses. Cheers Mike.
great instructor, wealth of knowledge and generally appears to love his job
Practical and usable training, with plenty of riding to put into practice
Thanks for an enjoyable day. See you again in 2 years time :)
I wish to thank Phillip for his positive constructive pointers re tackling loose surfaces and moss by tightening ones knees against the tank and relaxing handle grip tension. It was simply amazing how the bike responded through the bends when relaxed. I’ve covered in excess of a million kilometer’s ridding and am still capable of learning something new. You can teach an old dog a new trick. :)
Every motorcyclist should do these courses. For those that are already safe riders, it reinforces safe habits and discourages bad habits. For those that are not safe riders it illustrates to them why nobody wants to ride in a group with them!
A day of valuable learning from Instructor Phil and sharing with like-minded course participants. I enjoyed the confidence boost from real-world application of skills as our group completed a sizeable loop around the region. A top day, thank you Phil!
A very informative coarse. The pre-ride talk covered a lot of info on why things happen. Also how and why a motorcycle behaves differently under varying conditions. The “Controlled Braking training was also helpful, followed by a “no stress” ride, with audible info from Philip. Highly recommended, no matter how long you’ve been riding.
Good job, just the right step up from silver. Cheers.
A great course. I found the science and practical reasoning behind various motorcycle related theories very interesting.Including chassis geometry changes while braking and accelerating that also the affects your tyres.
The group talks were casually run affairs which encouraged a lot of comment and discussion.Practising some of these out on the road was encouraged and were good to experiment with.I found I need to work more on practicing using the vanishing point in corners as well.
5 stars for a well run course.
Mark Ellen.
Very well presented and comprehensive
Good practical information and reminder about position on the road and vanishing point in corners. Braking practice was insightful. Would have been good to have had more discussion and analysis of NZ’s deteriorating road surfaces and the safety implications. Tyre inflation and design info was useful. Would have been good to hear more about latest motorcycle safety gear innovation and effectiveness like inflatable vests and other innovations. Thanks for your good work.
Great tuition. Relevant, plenty of time to demonstrate our abilities and receive advice. God size group. Good comms between all of us. Good selection of roads to test new skills. Full day of learning practice and fun.
Great day, lots of great insights and techniques to keep improving my riding. Thank you Neil.
A great day of learning , very wet but gained some new skills that will help keep me safe.

Both instructors were fantastic - knowledgeable, personable, and curious about the students. And they complemented each other very well. Learned some good tips.
Phil and Giles are a great team. They both explain things in a way that suits each rider on the course. Have an energy that creates a fun open learning environment, where no one feels they can’t share. Thanks for an awesome day of learning in the rain!
Good men very knowledgeable and real passion to teach people valuable information to help keep them alive on the road.
Excellent training, feeling much more confident. Learned lots about bike maintenance. Slow speed training and emergency braking were very good. Best part was practicing cornering in the afternoon. Had a great time, thank you.
Great course learnt heaps, instructor was great too
Excellent - would highly recommend. Philip was very accommodating (I have a scooter so the route needed to be adapted) and I learned a significant amount and gained confidence in my ability. Had a blast!
I enjoyed the course , informative regards traffic law and safe riding methods.
I especially appreciate the confidence the course brings riders in mastering slow turning , advanced braking , road riding position and in practicing awareness of the conditions around you at all times
Thanks again
Kind regards
Patrick
Had a great time with Philip and he help out two friends build confidence with there riding skills. Thanks Phil.
A perfect day for fantastic experience; I decided after years of avoiding the Ride Forever training courses, (can’t teach an old dog new tricks), to bite the bullet and participate. I arrived with an open attitude and felt lucky there were only two of us joining this session, both like minded. Within minutes we were chatting away with our instructor, Giles Sullivan.
Giles delivered a very intuitive instruction, with lots of humour and a high level of professionalism both during the whiteboard sessions and on the road. I was surprised how much I learned during the day, which I can now put into practice every time I ride.
A very well presented course with valuable pre-ride info and team building around sharing info and riding experiences. The road trip with intercom was a real bonus, and very informative on reading the road and environment, anticipating issue’s preparing for setting up corners. Certainly was an eye opener for me , dropped a few OLD habits, felt more in control. A sore hand held me back from a better ride. Would encourage ANYONE to give this course a chance. You will learn something new , Cheers Philip
Philip is an excellent instructor - knowledgeable, capable and superb at delivering learning content. At the end of the training, I had improved my skills and my confidence on the bike. I also left with a clear idea of what I need to practice and how to go about developing my skills. I look forward to attending the silver course with Rightway.
Loved the Course , l learnt a lot from it
Phillip as always very professional and patient with lots of wisdom and tips
Absolutely fantastic day from start to finish. Returning to the saddle after a few years out, Philip pitched the day to allow for ironing out a few rusty habits and provided spot on tips and guidance at exactly the right times. Covering around 250km on a good mix of technical, urban and state highway roads, environments and weather all contributed to a valuable day reconnecting with my riding and a group of similarly skilled riders. Thoroughly recommended to returning and seasoned riders alike, the Gold Course today has been one of the highlights of this year for me.
