Intro to Clothing Repair and Alterations

Give Your Clothes a Second Life

In this class, you will learn how to make simple repairs and alterations. We will cover the basics of patching garments and go over hemming techniques and taking in and letting out seams to make minor fit adjustments. We will do samples to practice different hand and machine sewing techniques. Students will also bring in their own clothing items to work on. What you learn will be tailored to the projects you bring in. Bring your mending projects to the first class and we'll go from there.

Skill Level:

Students should have enough experience to independently wind a bobbin and threading their sewing machine. Students should feel comfortable with some hand sewing techniques.
