About this Class and the Level (formerly Spring Progressive Level & Open Level)

For Returning Students: This class combines last spring's Progressive Level and Open Level groups.

For New Students: Recommended experience: approximately 5–8 years of ballet training, or equivalent experience. This class is ideal for adult dancers with a solid technical foundation who would like to continue developing their classical ballet technique in a welcoming, non-competitive environment.

Designed for dancers who are comfortable with the core vocabulary of classical ballet, this class offers a supportive environment where students can continue practising, learning, and refining their technique on a weekly basis. A similar level (without the combined Open Level format) is also offered on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm at DanceSpace.

Each class lasts 2 hours and includes:

  • 10-minute pre-barre warm-up: Gentle conditioning, floor exercises, mobility work, and light stretching to prepare the body for ballet.
  • Complete barre: The barre will emphasize repetition of exercises throughout the term, allowing dancers to build confidence, improve technique, and develop greater ease and flow.
  • Centre : Exercises may be offered with different levels of complexity so dancers with varying experience can work comfortably within the same class. Centre combinations will often be repeated over several weeks to support technical development, and when requested or needed, short practice videos may be shared for optional at-home review.
  • 5-10 minute cool-down stretch: Gentle stretching to conclude the class.
