Ready for your next steps in ballet?

This 6-week course continues the foundations introduced in Ballet Basics I. We’ll review and reinforce the basics while gradually adding new steps, terminology and combinations, helping you build confidence, coordination and a stronger understanding of ballet.

New to Ballet Beyond? You’re welcome to join! Approximately 4-6 classes of beginner ballet is recommended, but you do not need to have taken Ballet Basics I with us or maybe you are able to get some basics online before joining. If you have some previous ballet experience and feel comfortable working at an absolute-beginner pace, this may also be a good fit for you as well.

The goal is not to rush ahead. We take the time to build good foundations, repeat what matters and make ballet feel both achievable and enjoyable.

What we’ll work on

  • Basic ballet positions, steps and terminology
  • Posture, alignment and body awareness
  • Coordination and musicality
  • Strength, balance and flexibility
  • Simple barre and centre exercises
  • Beginning combinations that bring the fundamentals together

Why adults love this class

  • A relaxed, welcoming room designed specifically for adult beginners
  • Clear instruction and plenty of repetition, so you can learn without feeling rushed
  • A chance to improve posture, balance, flexibility, strength and coordination at your own pace
  • A genuinely enjoyable way to move, de-stress and reconnect with your body
  • A teacher who specializes in adults just starting out and LOVES teaching this level
  • A room full of people who understand what it feels like to be learning something new

We warmly welcome students of every age, background and gender, and especially encourage men to join as we continue building a more diverse dance community.
