A wonderful course. Both the classroom and range portions were outstanding. The classroom sessions – lecture and discussion – were effective for conveying key concepts in developing and applying emotional intelligence. The role-play in the range sessions allowed us to see how we might apply those lessons in coaching situations with students of widely varying backgrounds and experience. Highly valuable. Whether you teach students at the beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels, this course will expand your skills.

All great and thorough instruction from Dr. Jimmy. Adequate breaks for content digestion time and wonderful evaluation for understanding of each participants level of comfort in handling firearms. Safety is Cohutta Pine’s staff #1 priority and they mean it.
Would suggest a detailed time agenda in the informational email.
Ex:
09:30 am - 9:45 am Arrive on site to get situated
10:00 am - Intro to Safety and discussion
11:45 am - 15 minute break
12:00 pm - intro to handling and getting familiar with your tools
Etc…With 9:30 I would have aimed for 9:15 and arrived at 9:45 that. It’s an ADHD thing.
This course was a fabulous opportunity to become educated about guns and how to use them safely. Dr. Jimmy is extremely knowledgable, a great educator, patient and emphasizes being safe and feeling safe above anything else. I highly recommend this course as an entry point to handling and using guns.
Overall a well put together program that definitely is beneficial to untrained shooters. Great atmosphere. Very knowledgeable instructor and friendly helpful staff.

My husband and I took firearm training with Dr. Jimmy and Logan, and it was a great experience. I’ve been around guns my whole life, but after this training, I’m more confident handling handguns than I’ve ever been. The safety training alone was worth it! I usually have trouble sitting in a classroom, but they kept it interesting and fun.
At the range, we put those skills to use — it was the safest and most beautiful range I’ve ever been to. My husband, who has experience repairing firearms, was blown away by what he learned. For him, a lot of it was unlearning old habits (I had a few to break too! tee hee hee). We’re already looking forward to taking more courses in the future.
Everything was fantastic. As a beginner, I went in with next to no knowledge and learned a lot through the guidance from Dr. Jimmy and Logan. Thanks for the class!
I never thought a 6 hour class could be informative and fun, but it was. I learned a lot and enjoyed the entire process.
Cohutta Pines is an awesome facility! And Dr. Jimmy is a phenomenal instructor. He has the ability to teach at your level, regardless of your prior experience and skill level. Even though I consider myself a fairly competent and well-trained shooter, I still picked up numerous “nuggets” during this class. I look forward to training at Cohutta Pines with Jimmy again in the future.

This class is an excellent compliment to their basic intro to handguns class. After a thorough review of handgun safety, mechanics and components, you head up to the range and work up to various types of live fire drills. The repetitive drilling is crucial for building muscle memory and confidence and both were achieved in this class. Kudos to Jimmy and Brian for creating such a safe and stress free environment. They are both so professionally trained and credentialed, they don’t miss a thing, and are right there to provide constructive feedback after every drill. Will definitely be back for more training. The instructors and the facility are world class. Well done!
I am a pretty accomplished shooter. I’ve been to many classes with national level instructors who travel the country charging a lot of money to train with them.
I came to this class without any clear goals other than having an open mind to see what Dr Jimmy taught. It was truly fantastic. He coached me to two personal records. I would recommend Dr Jimmy and the Cohutta Pines range to anyone who is serious about firearms training.

We felt very safe and we learned a lot. The firearm safety course is great for folks without any gun background.
I went into this experience nervous and a bit scared. I survived an abusive relationship that involved guns, and this class was run by men with guns. I honestly considered not attending, but I decided to push through and I am so glad I did. The instructors were thorough, respected my boundaries, always asking consent to set closer or to touch my hands to correct my grip. This was the most supportive, safe experience I could have asked for. What I was able to accomplish was a big first step in my healing process. I hope to continue and attend other sessions in the future. Thank you so much for helping me! 1000% recommend!
I cannot recommend this class, Gals & Guns, enough. As someone who grew up shooting handguns who has continued shooting as an adult, I didn’t realize how much I really did not know about gun safety and shooting. I am really looking to my next class, Handgun Essentials, to continue improving. I also really appreciated the opportunity to learn in a girls only environment. I felt much more at ease than I have at a range full of men.
